A stay in hospital is about to get a little bit easier for local patients

30 August 2011

A stay in hospital is about to get a little bit easier for local patients following the launch, this week, of a Hospital Information Booklet by the Southern Health and Social Care Trust.

The short booklet tells people about important things they need to know before they come for a stay in Craigavon Area Hospital or Daisy Hill Hospital.

The booklet begins with simple advice on preparing for a stay in hospital including information on what patients should and should not bring with them. It goes on to offer practical advice on everything from car parking, meal times, visiting times and anything else they might need to know during their stay in Hospital.

Dr Gillian Rankin, Southern Trust, Director of Acute Services welcomed the new booklet saying:

"I am delighted that we now have a booklet which provides patients with information they need to know before coming into hospital for a stay. People booked to come into hospital will receive a letter confirming their stay and this will now include a reminder about the Hospital Information Booklet. Hard copies of the Booklet will also be available for people who can't access our website. I really hope that people find it useful and easy to use."

The Hospital Information Booklet can be accessed on the Southern Health and Social Care Trust website (www.southerntrust.hscni.net) in the Patient/Client/Visitor section.
